Join a museum naturalist for a leisurely half-mile walk on our paved trail. Get a closer look at the wildflowers, birds, and other wildlife that live in the forest around the Museum. Binoculars and field guides provided.

1910 Lazinka Sawmill Runs

See the journey of High Desert trees as they are turned from timber into lumber. See the sawmill's huge whirring blade up close. Learn how logs were worked by hand, and saw timber using tools from 100 years ago.

Meet the soliders sent to keep the peace among settlers in Eastern Oregon in the 1860s. Visit their encampment as they cook, drill, gamble and recruit for the Oregon Volunteer Infantry. Will you be recruited?
