Oregon's High Desert:
A History of Landscape and Climate
July 18, 2008 – December 28, 2008
Understand climate change in Bend's backyard, and seven places where 50 million years of climate history can be seen in the High Desert and the John Day Basin. Learn about the Area's geologic evolution, ecological changes and causes, what fossils reveal and living "fossil" forests.
Through a series of photographic and illustrative panels in the
Museum’s Collins Gallery, this exhibit explores how
forests and wildlife in the high desert have been affected
by the evolution of the landscape and climate.
Visitors will learn about prehistoric Oregon and the geologic
“wonders” of the region.
