School Festivals
These special events focus on a particular theme. Multiple stations are set up around the Museum featuring hands-on activities and opportunities for learning. Students and chaperones explore in small groups at their own pace.
Discovery Classes
Generally 60-90 minutes in length, these programs can either be held at the Museum or at your school. You decide which location best suits your needs! A variety of topics will continue to become available throughout the school year.
Discovery Tours
Museum instructors and volunteers guide students through activities at the Museum using the exhibits, grounds and classrooms. Programs range from 30 minutes to a full day.
Self-Guided Field Trips
You are always welcome to come to the Museum for a self-guided field trip. As long as you register in advance, you will pay the school group admission rate of $4.50 per student. All teachers and one chaperone for every five students are admitted free. Additional chaperones pay $8.50. You will also receive a packet of information to help you plan your visit.
Spring and Summer Camps
High Desert Museum spring and summer day camps are a great way
for kids to have fun and learn! These engaging, hands-on camps
include educational games and crafts, learning activities,
behind-the-scenes tours, overnights and more.
Teacher Workshops
The High Desert Museum offers professional development opportunities for educators throughout the year. Professional Development Units (PDUs) are always available, and workshops are often offered for graduate credit through Portland State University or other institutes of higher education.
