Desertarium

Desertarium

The High Desert is made up of many diverse ecosystems including the vast sagebrush steppes, dry pine forests and lush riparian zones. These habitats may appear sparse at times, but they are teeming with life. From reptiles and amphibians, to fish and insects, come get to know some of the important creatures that call the High Desert home in our Desertarium gallery.

In the Desertarium, you will have the opportunity to view native wildlife up close including turtles, tortoises, snakes, lizards, frogs, fish and more! Seasonally scheduled reptile encounters and gallery interpreters help deliver special messages that will help you learn what you can do to conserve these slimy and scaly creatures. There are many opportunities to participate in our Adopt an Animal program, which directly helps wildlife staff provide food and care for the animals of the Desertarium.
