Into the Wild: A Family Adventure Workshop Series & Research Application
The High Desert Museum and the Deschutes Public Library, with support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, is hosting a new family science workshop series, at no cost to participants. This is a unique opportunity for you and your child to discover the natural world around you and to spark your imagination and sense of adventure.
Adult caregivers with children ages 8 through 10 are invited to learn together in hands-on workshops where they’ll uncover the mysteries of the intriguing carnivores hidden in our local forests. You’ll work with wildlife biologists both in the classroom and in the field, learning how to identify animals in the wild, how to track their movements and explore how they survive. Then, you’ll share the stories of your discoveries. Together, you’ll investigate, research, interpret and share what you’ve learned.
During the course of these workshops, Oregon State University will be conducting research to examine their effectiveness with the goal of improving educational family programming nationwide.
